The City at Night

I recently went back to some of my previous levels, and overhauled some of the things that I felt were wrong with them. That included the city levels that I previously created, and many of the structures and all of the lighting have now been readjusted.

I feel the dark lighting works well to create an appropriate atmosphere but I remember that one of the main complaints of Blood 2 was the dark lighting. So before I invest a lot of time in creating plenty of dark and gritty levels, it would be great to hear what others might think.

As always, comments and volunteers are appreciated.

I spent a bit more time on this industrial area of the city and it seems to be slowly improving, just like everything else with this game. Things will continue to constantly change as I experiment with the entire game, and hopefully in time the ever shrinking Blood community may find all of these results much more entertaining and enjoyable then what this game once was...

Kurt, those city pics have the best use of colored lighting thus far. The only complaints I remember b2 getting about lighting were for the b2k mod.

That was even though true darkness never made an appearance in b2k. I'm pretty sure what people meant by darkness was extremely low contrast. The pics you have don't contain any contrast problems.

These shots are awesome. I find them really realistic, in the sense that the player will feel well the atmosphere that was intended!

That should be quite scaring with enemies hiding in the shadows...

You've really hit on something with that colored lighting. Is there any chance on getting the shadows opaque instead of transparent?

I'm not too sure about being a great man, lol. But I do appreciate receiving these comments.

I'll continue to try to do my best with all of this, and hopefully it all turns out well in the end.
