Lithtech

Lately I've been thinking a lot about this old lithtech engine, and how nice it would be to have something more advanced to play with.

Afterall it's old, buggy, and frustrating to work with, and there's so many other great engines out there that I could be using. But despite its age, I really do believe that it still has some life left in it.

It may not have fancy mirrors or ragdoll effects, but it might still be possible to "resurrect" this old engine, and hopefully create a pretty entertaining game with it.

Since I won't have anything new to show for a while, here's a few screenshots from the last level I was working on. I'm not sure if it needs more lights, but I thought Blood 2 could use a spooky castle.

The Overhaul Continues

As I've previously mentioned, this is all very experimental and the challenge is in finding what may work well in this game, and what doesn't.

So in order to do the best that I possibly can with this project, I need to be able to test and experiment with every aspect of this game. I'm just saying this once again because I have had a number of people write in with opinions over some of the screenshots on this site. I do value those opinions because they actually help a great deal, but perhaps showing a work in progress on the internet isn't always a good idea.

There's a lot of work that still needs to be done on this game, and the improvements will continue to increase day by day. I've currently returned back to the coding, and that will be my top priority for some time to come. Its doubtful that I'll have any new screenshots or updates for awhile, while I attempt to do my best to work my way through all of this code.

But since those zombies really do need an overhaul, I've enlisted the aid of a top scientist to determine how best to revitalize them.

All of the feedback and offers to contribute to this project that I've received, are all very much appreciated, and I'll continue to be receptive to hearing the opinions of others.

All of this work will continue for quite some time, and I'll keep on trying to do my best on all of this...

Zombie Facelift

I thought I'd offer to give these souldrudges a facelift, and they really seemed quite offended by my work.

I'm not sure what to do about these guys, but I'll eventually need a variety of different zombies for this game. I think that as long as I give them all some brains before I work on them, everything should be alright...

I'd just like to also add that this is all still a work in progress. So any images that are posted on this site, are only representative of things as they currently are, and not as they will eventually be.

A lot will still change between now and the final release of all of this, so any feedback that I receive will greatly help in the direction and development of this project.

Website Issues

I've noticed that lately this site seems to be experiencing some slowdowns, and difficulty in displaying images quickly. I'll attempt to look into this problem, but its unfortunately not at the top of my list of priorities at the moment.

Cultist Creations

I thought I would share a few images of my experimentations in overhauling Blood 2's appearance.

The game will eventually combine the artistic style of the original Blood with a more modern and realistic style, giving it an altogether new but yet familiar appearance. I've already demonstrated here and elsewhere how well the original Blood style works in Blood 2, using the old lithtech engine. But both Blood, and Blood 2 were sadly lacking many textures that I'll eventually need for all of the level construction.

Also with 4 Chosen in uniquely different alternate universes, I'll be able to experiment with many different types of styles.

So here are a few examples of a current city level under construction, using a more realistic and updated appearance. I'll appreciate any opinions or comments that anyone is willing to offer, and if there are any texture artists out there, I'd be happy to hear from you as well.
