Something Different

I've managed to accomplish something today that I thought was once impossible. I'm no longer limited to only using models from Lithtech 1.0, but I can now import models into Blood 2 from any Monolith game! It's a bit of a complicated procedure, but it does work.

Since Monolith never really finished Blood 2 it only seems right that they should contribute some new models to this game. It would also save me considerable time as well. Any object, character or weapon model from any Monolith game can now be imported into Blood 2 if desired.

Here's Sanjuro from Shogo, a goat from NOLF, and a bathtub from NOLF 2, all together in a recreation of E3M1 from BLOOD. I don't currently have FEAR installed or I would have included something from that game as well.

And just for fun, here's a NOLF helicopter about to crush the goat by landing on top of it.

Many of these models use multiple textures and Blood 2 seems to only be able to use single textures currently. But hopefully I'll figure out a solution to that problem eventually, as these experiments continue...

Early Test Level 2

I figured that while I was at it, I'd share another video demo of another incomplete level from last year. Maybe there's only a few people out there that are actually interested in seeing demo's of a work in progress. But it's my website and I guess I can do whatever I want, lol.

I tried to use a different approach with this level and I'm not sure how successful it is. The enemies unfortunately remain retarded in this video due to the fact that I'm using an older version of the code. I have bits and pieces of code, levels, and textures scattered all over my hard drive and I'll hopefully put all of these pieces of the puzzle together soon.

It's also been subtly stated elsewhere that I may possibly be talking too much with all of these updates. It seems that most people would actually only be interested in flashy updates of substance. Silly me. I thought the point of these updates was to get some feedback from the community in order to create the best that I possibly can. But I suppose its already been demonstrated that very few people are really interested in providing any feedback, and for those that actually have, I'm appreciative.

So this will be my last update for awhile. I have nothing flashy to offer at the moment other then another demo of an incomplete level from last year.

Work will continue for as long as it takes and I'll always be around to receive any comments or feedback.

Early Test Level

I was recently looking back at some of the early attempts at level building for this project. Some of these levels still have the potential of making it into the eventual release, but some of the other's, I'm not so sure about.

I would definitely do a lot of things differently if these levels were built today, and it may still be possible that some of these old levels may be released. But here's an example of a test level from 2007 that I'm currently undecided about.

The coding obviously still needs much work, and I should probably go and invest some time in that for awhile...

Website maintenance

I decided to do a bit of maintenance on the site after reviewing some of these website statistics. I was surprised to discover that a number of visitors just go straight to the screenshots and very few ever visit these update pages. Maybe some people aren't interested in hearing anything I have to say, or maybe they just wish I'd shutup already about all of this , lol.

So I've expanded the screenshot pages to 5 pages from 2, and done a few other cosmetic changes. Hopefully these changes are an improvement, and if there's any problems or broken links, please let me know.

Maybe eventually I'll add some new screenshots and whatnot to the site. But for now, I think 5 pages is plenty...
