More Zombie Renovations

Everybody seems to love zombies, but unfortunately I don't have any new zombie models functioning correctly yet. I suppose they all still need more brains, so I'm still stuck with the old souldrudge models for the time being.

I was beginning to get tired of constantly seeing the same goofy face, so the Cabal have given the souldrudge another makeover. It's kind of interesting seeing the comparison of the 2 skins on the same old bizarre looking model. These souldrudges were never meant to be zombies...

The Cabal have also reconsidered their bizarre idea of hiring zombies from China. They were extremely good workers, and would only eat brains without MSG. But unfortunately they weren't very popular zombies, but I believe that a few of them might still be wandering around the city somewhere. ( I do amuse myself at times with some rather strange ideas )

Eventually some new zombie models will be built and tested. If I can ever get through all of this coding.....

Random Ramblings Part 3

I've been talking about this project for what seems like forever, and working on it for even longer. I think I may have finally run out of things to say...

But it's probably just as well because there's still plenty of coding to work on, and that should keep me busy for awhile. Since I don't have any more screenshots of western towns being erected (lol), here's the last screenshots for awhile.

I'll be back sometime when I actually have something worthwhile to say...

Westworld

Every now and then I like to return back to my incomplete western town. Life was so much simpler back then. No one ever heard of coding and they were all happy without it. But they certainly did take their time in building towns.

I think this town has been under construction for forever. At least it now has a windvein, and I've heard rumors that a railway might be built nearby as well. But I suppose that will all have to wait for another day.

There's still much coding to be done. But my mind wanders back to a time when things were so much simpler...

More Random Ramblings

I was running some tests on a few incomplete levels today, and decided to take a few screenshots along the way. I actually surprised myself at one point as I rounded a corner and had a cultist suddenly emerge from the shadows. I'd seriously forgotten that he was even there.

Well that'll probably be the last of my fun for awhile as the coding is still calling out to me. So I'll return to the lab now for some more overhauling.

This all may take awhile, but the resurrection of Blood 2 continues...

Coding Continues

I've been putting off all of this coding for quite awhile now, and simply been patching things up here and there over the course of this project. But as much as I hate coding, I really think I need to finally concentrate all of my efforts on setting up the complete framework of this game.

The game code will be completely overhauled and rewritten from what it once was in retail Blood 2, and I'm confident that the results will produce a less buggy and much more enjoyable game. The code is the most important part of this project, and also the most complicated and time consuming. I can't really say how long this overhaul will take, but I'll be putting off building any new levels or models until I feel satisfied with the new code. It will then feel as though as a giant weight has been lifted from my shoulders, and I'll be able to proceed with the rest of this project in a much better frame of mind.

I may not enjoy coding, but it really needs to be done in order for the rest of this project to succeed. So I'll be busy in hell if anyone needs me...

Online 1 year

I suddenly realized today that this website has been online since October of last year. I honestly don't know where the time goes.

A lot has been accomplished in the past year, and though this project may have wandered off track on occassion, I'm confident that it has now found its focus.

There's a great deal left to be done including the construction of new models, new sound and textures, even more new levels, and a completely overhauled game code. While this may be an incredible amount of work to put into such an old game, I still believe that Blood 2 could be resurrected into something very special.

Time will tell, and the work goes on...

Untitled Update

I'm sure that I've probably made it clear by now that I really hate coding. It's one of the most important parts of any game but it's really not something I enjoy doing.

I'd much rather be building levels or models, or watching paint dry. I think I've actually been finding ways to avoid doing what needs to be done, and the following screenshots are a good example of that.

While this entire game has been planned out in advance I never the less have recently built some totally unplanned levels. Perhaps its just me avoiding the work that really needs to be done, or maybe this game really is truly evil and it's deciding for itself what needs to be done.

But for some reason I now have a partially complete remake of E1M1 from Blood, and some sort of castle that I have no idea why I even created.

Hopefully I'll soon get back on track with the planned levels that still need to be built. Or perhaps this game might have other plans in mind... It seems that the game has just now requested some pointy things on the roof as well, so I was forced to do some additional alterations to my little castle.

As for the coding, it's going as well as can be expected, and I am occasionally surprised at some of the things that have been accomplished. But this will all still take awhile, and as always I'll continue to try to do my best with all of this :)
